East African Center

In 2001 with funding from the Gates Foundation then University of Washington student Suzanne Jeneby founded a grassroots organization called the East African Center. The center is located in the village of Vutakaka in Takaungu, Kenya.
The EAC is one of my Community Partners so whenever I represent a buyer or seller that would like to support the EAC I donate an amount equal to 10% of my commission in their name.
Suzanne and many volunteers serve Vutakaka by increasing literacy for women through teaching reading, basic math and business skills and for children by providing nursery and primary schooling; by improving health status through weekly public health lectures, a health library, and basic health care that can be provided at their new clinic; and by working to defeat poverty by teaching trades such as sewing and farming and business skills such as math, accounting, and management.
The EAC provides access to assistance and resources so that people can make changes in their own lives. Means can soften the jaws of poverty.
