The Meaning of Home and Money

Welcome to my 2007. Life has been full since December. I’ve been traveling, wedding planning, business planning, and planning for an aging, ill parent.

Through all of this I’ve been able to see and hear what “home” and “money” mean to people whose paths I cross. Descriptions of home and money are very different in the small fishing village where we vacationed than in most of the U.S. And I have my own thoughts of “home” and “money” after visiting New Orleans last month to photograph the Hurricane Katrina aftermath. It’s remains shocking.

Seniors tend to describe home and money to me differently than people in their 40s. And people in their 20s tend to talk with me about home and money in other ways. It’s interesting how, over time and in different places, home and money change meaning so dramatically.

And that’s my business as a real estate professional. I help people sell and buy their homes, I help investors sell and buy their rentals, I help people make and spend their money. From my clients’ stories I learn what “home” and “money” mean to them. I help them add that meaning to their lives. It’s interesting.
